THE VOICE INSIDE

Schizophrenia

Coming from the definition it informs that schizophrenia symptoms are split into three different symptoms.  Positive, negative and cognitive symptoms. For the positive symptoms, the symptoms are a hallucination, movement disorder. Negative symptoms include harder to start activities, making conversation, reduce the pleasure of the day. Cognitive symptoms poor abilities to understand things.

I have always had an interest in being able to be in the eyes of what people experience in this project it was the best place to express this idea. As soon as I heard that this project intended me to create a video with a meaning behind it I was extremely happy as I was so interested in schizophrenia. Through research, I have learned that people having schizophrenia hear voices in their head and see many visual around them. The voice’s that they hear can also be with the intention of persuading them to do something such as jump, pick it up or drop it. Most likely the person will do as the voice says. Taking all the research that I have done I decided to implement it with my own environment, as a student.
Student normal day would be to get up take a shower get ready to go to classes. The day might start off well or bad but nobody has ever noticed how bad a morning could get if you had schizophrenia and it occurred as soon as you got out of your room.

In the first part of the video is the use of duplicating the video on top of each other so that it makes an effect that the person is walking through having a blurry vision and not walking straight. Then after that, it is the view of the campus. I had to wait a couple of night to be able to record the different moment of the day when it turned dark.  The third part of the video is is the student walking towards the fridge to take out milk. This video is, later on, played backward and it speeds up. The intention of this is to make the audience realize that this student as though he has done but never actually did it, instead did something else which is, therefore, the fourth part. This is a simple act of going for a shower. As the student goes for the shower everything starts distorting and it starts getting dark. This has the intention to make the audience experience how scary and uncomfortable it is for this student even taking a shower a place which at first is meant to be relaxing. Finally the fifth and last part is the action of walking out and towards the elevator. The different video combines by the original video and the audio has a woman speaking. Walking in the hallway all alone but still hearing somebody talking is something that is very unusual and stressful. Like anybody in that situation, the student looks around and sees nothing.
